Welcome To Chester Labs

Chester labs was a large building; spanning five stories tall and half the entire block. There were over a hundred rooms and labs on the premises. Ian, Lincoln, and Badrah sat on a bench across the road, carrying their school bags as they stared at the building. A small part of Ian wondered what exactly they were doing, staking out such a mammoth of a place.

“So, if Chester Labs has something to do with Mr. Walker’s disappearance, he could be right in there, and all we have to do is find him,” Badrah spoke out loud, echoing what the others thought.

“Yeah, but look at the place! Where do we start? I don’t think they’ll let us start walking through and opening every single door we find just so we can take a peak behind it,” Lincoln argued.

“You’re right,” Ian replied, his voice coming out a little shakier than he had expected. “It’s a large building, and we can come here as much as we can; if they’re hiding him, we won’t find him.”

“So what are we going to do then?” Lincoln asked.

“We’re going to have faith that we find something that tells us we’re on the right path,” Ian replied. “Everything so far has led us here. The car, Mr. Irving, the money, the receipt; it all leads to this. There has to be something here that can help us. He might not even be here, but we might find the next piece of the puzzle. We just have to try.”

Lincoln began shaking his head, “Ian, I have no idea what you have in mind, but look at this place man. They mean serious business. If we get caught doing anything we aren’t supposed to, we are going to be in so much trouble, I mean what if we’re wrong.”

“We can’t be wrong Lincoln, we can’t be. Mr. Walker’s life is on the line, and we are the only ones who are actually looking for him!” Ian spoke, his voice getting louder as he tried to cover the fear he felt. “We can’t afford to be wrong.”

“Lower voice Ian,” Badrah replied, taking his hand. “Just take a breath, okay? We’re with you. Right Lincoln?”

Lincoln let out a breath, seeing how tensed Ian was, and he stretched out a hand, “I can’t leave my buddy hanging, plus…no one likes the substitute anyway. So, let’s do it.”

Ian nodded. He felt a wave of nerves come over him, but he knew that with Lincoln and Badrah with him, they would be able to scale through, no matter what they met inside of the building. They just had to be smart and play it right. “Alright, we have to stick to the plan, and we’ve got this. Okay?”

The trio crossed the road, holding up their notes as they walked straight for the doors of Chester labs with huge smiles. Badrah walked in front as she had the most confidence in the group. Ian had learned that she knew the best way
